摘要

Complex phenomena such as the physical and chemical processes of flames have significant engineering applications. Design and operation of rocket engines, gas turbines, jet engines, industrial furnaces, and internal combustion engines depend on combustion processes presented in this book. There are nine chapters and nine appendices in this book. Chapters 1 and 2 are on thermodynamics of flames and chemical kinetics. Chapters 3-5 cover fuels, flame in premixed combustion, and detonation. Diffusion flames and ignition are the subjects treated in Chapters 6 and 7. The environmental aspects of combustion, such as smog, formation and reduction of nitrogen oxides, emissions, particulate formation, and catalytic cycles, are covered in Chapter 8. The last chapter of the book is devoted to combustion of nonvolatile fuels. Appendices A-I provide useful thermodynamic and property data that are essential in solving combustion problems. Numerous end-of-chapter problems provide the reader a valuable opportunity to practice and learn various concepts of combustion phenomena.
