Soloy has recently received approval from the European Aviation Safety Agency for its Eurocopter AS350BA re-engining package, which installs the Honeywell LTS101-600A-3A engine in the aircraft. The conversion is already approved in the United States, Canada, New Zealand and Australia.rnThe original supplemental type certificate used AS350D model parts to install the LTS 101, based on Eurocopter's own initial installation of the engine in the AS350D. Ironically many operators had swapped out the powerplant for the Turbomeca Arriel used in the AS350B, following issues of reliabilty and fuel consumption. Since then Honeywell has substantially improved the LTS101 and developed the -600A-3A variant, which Soloy then fitted in the helicopter, titling the conversion the AS350 Super D.
