Northrop Grumman is continuing to expand development of the MQ-8B Fire Scout unmanned helicopter, and has recently completed hot weather trials in the United Arab Emirates in temperatures up to 47 degrees C.rnThe four week deployment included two weeks of actual flight demonstrations, during which period it carried 36 kg (80 lb) of medical supplies and material to a remote location to simulate an emergency supply drop. The aircraft also carried out multiple shipboard landings with a 206 kg (454 lb) payload including fuel. 14 flights were completed for a total of 24 flight hours, with the longest mission being 5.2 hours to demonstrate the full autonomous routing capability.
