Anew online retailer is looking to stand out from the crowd by offering an amped-up version of the Main Street shopping experience. The retailer, 11 Main, which is owned by Alibaba, China's answer to Amazon, launched in June with an invitation-only, shop-within-a-shop format. The goal is to offer a mix of goods -both brand names and unique finds - similar to what one would encounter strolling down a prototypical Main Street, for example, a "vintage shop next to an electronics shop next to a button shop," as the retailer told the Wall Street journal last summer.
