摘要

The Administration's Fiscal Year 2009 request for transit and port security is "woefully inadequate," public transportation and port officials said last week. The request seeks $175 million for the Transit Security Grant Program—a cut of roughly $225 million from the $400 million appropriated FY 2008. "Public transit systems across the country have allocated billions of dollars towards security needs since September 11, 2001. However the need is greater than local funds can provide and transit security is a federal responsibility," said William Millar, president of the American Public Transportation Association.
