Ambiente, held in February in Frankfurt, Germany, was impacted by the coronavirus and Storm Ciara, which hit the United Kingdom and mainland Europe. Fair organizers noted that business didn't suffer as much as expected, and large numbers of orders were placed throughout the trends and new products platforms. While exhibitors were disappointed with the sense of uncertainty among visitors and the absence of numerous retail channels, those who did attend reportedly benefited from a strong ordering environment. In total, around 108,000 buyers attended from nearly 160 countries."If a trade fair is impacted by two such events, it really does face enormous challenges," says Detlef Braun, member of the executive board, Messe Frankfurt. "But our exhibitors assessed the situation correctly." Despite the challenges, satisfaction ratings among visitors continued to be at the 95% level, according to show organizers.
