As managing director of the Hotel Bel Air in Beverly Hills, California, Gelardi oversaw the renovation and addition of 32 new rooms in 1983. He then served as manag- ing director of the Sorrento Hotel in Seattle before taking up his current post atTheLanesborough in 1990, where he has transformed a London's landmark. His efforts include making it the first London hotel to offer a dedicated butler to each guestroom.
