Two waves hit Kona Village Resort on the bigisland of Hawaii in the last few months. First,the March 11 tsunami caused so much dam-age that the resort laid off all of its staff andremains closed for repairs. Then, an online waveof support from guests turned into real-worldrelief for employees — to the tune of more thanUS$100,000 in donations. That's a conservativeestimate from Sacramento attorney WilliamPartmann, co-chairman of the board of directorsof the Facebook group Save Kona Village; he saysthe real figure could be as much as US$130,000.
