One of Argentina's established hotel owners, Sutton Group, is pressing ahead with two properties that we first heard about back in 2006. Taking the success of its Alvear Palace in Buenos Aires, the group will open in 2012 a 150-key Alvear Plaza San Martin and a 150-key Alvear Puerto Madero, both also in Buenos Aires. Sutton Group is headed by one of Argentina's best-known entrepreneurs, David Sutton. His wife, the former Bertha Lewcowicz, oversees the interior design of the Alvear-branded hotels. Thanks partly to well-directed planning by VisitScotland, chaired by respected hotelier Peter Lederer, Scotland saw its July occupancy jump 5.3% over July 2008.
