With developers struggling to find cost efficient ways to open new properties, joint-build hotels with multiple flags under one roof is an interesting option. Hilton's Homewood Suites completed three joint-build projects this year with like-minded Hilton developers-the first in Silver Spring, Maryland, housing 149-room Hampton on the lower eight floors and a 90-studio Homewood Suites on the top five floors.rnA Hilton Garden Inn-Homewood Suites project opened in Hanover, Maryland, adjacent to the Baltimore Washington International Airport, and the first joint-build in a downtown area came later in the year in Jacksonville, Florida, matching a Hilton Garden Inn with a HomewoodrnSuites. This unique, eight-story, 221-room-and-suite hotel complex is the first to offer horizontal distribution of guest rooms.
