摘要

Caribbean islands the Caribbean region has been experiencing a bit of a dual reality in the wake of last autumn's unprecedented hurricanes. On the one hand the islands are in recovery mode, not so much as from the physical damage itself—although extensive in some areas—but rather from the barrage of negative publicity that made it seem like the entire area was destroyed. While only a few islands we're directly impacted, the whole region has been affected. "No doubt the hurricanes certainly did some damage, and September was the worst month we've seen in the last 10 years—and lack of geographical knowledge played a role, but out of the 125,000 rooms that are members of CHA (Caribbean Hotel Association), less that 3,000 were out of commission," explains Berthia Parle, president of the CHA. "And almost all of them—85% to 90%—are back open. It's a testament to the resiliency of this industry."
