摘要

Worldwide Heading into the summer travel season, the mood in the hotel industry is one of rising optimism―so much so that PricewaterhouseCoopers already has improved its forecast and is now predicting U.S. ROOM rates to rise by 3% this year, up from the 1.9% it predicted just two months ago. Yet while hoteliers may be increasingly bullish on the future, it is vital that the lessons of the last three years are not lost. Hoteliers must remain vigilant when it comes to cost control and creative marketing. As stated by Robert Mandelbaum, director of research information services, The Hospitality Research Group, PKF Consulting, in the recent report, "Barring a catastrophic event, the majority of U.S. hotels should benefit from increased revenues in 2004... The key to driving profitability will be the discipline to maintain control over costs for which they have some degree of influence."
