Hotel bars that exploit their intriguing locations are realizing big profits. While many hotel guests are drawn to the property bar because of convenience, many new hotel bars are attracting locals and even other tourists by taking advantage of their glamorous locations or spectacular views. "The Lobby Lounge is acclaimed for its spectacular harbor views," says Jennifer Fox, managing director, Intercontinental Hong Kong. "It is renowned for the three-story, floor-to-ceiling windows with the view." To complement the bar's magnificent view, the Lobby Lounge recently underwent a renovation to "lighten the atmosphere." According to Fox, the draw is the harbor view, which the hotel's management and design team wanted to accentuate and design around. And in doing so, Fox says, the lounge is busier than ever. "We wanted to give the lounge a fresh new look while maintaining the integrity of the hotel's original design," she says.
