Worldwide One of the greatest ironies of the hospitality industry revolves around one of its lesser-known products, the conference center. Although for-profit residential learning facilities have been around since the '70s, the concept is just now attracting recognition as a viable and profitable product. But here's the irony: Although conference centers are more profitable than full-service hotels, the financing to build them has been notoriously scarce. As a result, growth in this segment has been strained at best.
