Deep ocean minerals are the future resources for the common heritage of mankind as other natural resources are becoming depleted. The International Seabed Authority is an autonomous international organisation that administers the exploration for and exploitation of the resources in the international seabed. As deep-sea mining is coming within reach, regulation and control of deep-sea resources is becoming even more important. Hydro international interviewed Mr Nii Allotey Odunton, Secretary-General of the International Seabed Authority (ISA) on the involvement of the ISA in deep-sea mining.
