Validation of the system at Ita has shown that detailed modeling of the hydropower , production function using the hill chart method gives errors of the same order of magnitude as those obtained with ultrasonic flowmeters, which cost hundreds of thousands of dollars per unit. It was also observed that the proper distribution of power between units can substantially reduce the amount of water used to generate the same amount of energy. A complete validation of the system will only be possible after some time in operation. We have yet to find how much water can be saved in the long term using the optimization model.
