The Philippines' Department of Energy has approved the construction of six hydropower projects following studies by its Renewable Energy Management Board (REMB). REMB determined that each of the projects is commercially viable, giving the go-ahead for plants that will add a combined installed capacity of about 48 MW to the Philippines' grid. USA-based Hydrocore Inc. will build the 4.5 MW Ibulao plant in Lagawe, while another American company, Constellation Energy Corp., is slated to construct 3 MW Dupinga in Gabaldon.
