Engineering conglomerate ABB has been awarded an order worth more than US$900 million to deliver a 1,060 mile-long ultrahigh-voltage direct current transmission system. The link will connect hydropower from northeast India to the region of Agra in central India and will represent, according to ABB, a new benchmark in HVDC technology.
