In late July, President Barack Obama announced his intent to make nominations for several administration positions, including Deputy Secretary for the U.S. Department of the Interior. According to Interior, Michael L. Connor will receive the nod to replace current Deputy Secretary David J. Hayes, who has served the agency since May 2009. Connor most recently served as Commissioner for the department's Bureau of Reclamation, which he will continue overseeing while his nomination is being considered by the Senate.
