The Naval Hydrographic Department celebrated 300 years of hydrographic survey in India and the Golden Jubilee of the National Hydrographic Office, Dehradun, on 1 June 2004. Various Golden Jubilee Celebrations, as these activities were called, were planned and executed over the one-year period leading up to this date. The commemorative events aimed to enhance the image of the Naval Hydrographic Department (NHD) within the maritime community and to bring about greater awareness, both in the country and abroad, of the significant role played by the Department in National Security and Development.
