Creative applications of radio frequency identification (RFID) technologies hold promise for consumers, businesses and government. These involve possibilities for reducing costs through better inventory management, for improving the safety of the drug supply, for aiding the care of the elderly and impaired and many others. However, RFID devices can be linked to personally identifiable information, including tracking of individual's location, thus raises important privacy questions. This is the thrust of a document prepared under the auspices of the Center for Democracy and Technology (CTD).
