摘要

The theory of probability mathematics has been extended so that the effective load carrying capability of units for maintenance scheduling may be estimated by an easily applied function. Once the basic parameters have been calculated (load and generation unit cumulants), the effective load carrying capability of alternate units may be compared. This method is applied to traditional maintenance scheduling approaches (specific maintenance) and extended to a new concept (probabilistic maintenance) which allows for the maintenance requirements to be specified without identifying the unit. Probabilistic maintenance is shown to be superior to derating units and modifying the forced outage rates to account for maintenance.
