The necessity and practicality of the elabo- ration of a regional energy concept is established on basis of the situation in the eastern part of the re- united Germany. The presented ZITTAUER ENERGIEKONEPT 2020 is methodically bases on a prognosis model for the determination of the energy demand according to dif- ferent scenarios and on a model of linear optimization for the determination of variants of the energy demand satisfaction. Special results for a possible structure and usage of the generating equipment for power and heat are presented, but principal conclusions can be derived.
