This paper describes variable frequency focusing with fieldnconjugate lenses designed to mimic the multiple-focusing capabilities ofnlarge two-dimensional phased arrays. Simulations, experiments, andnFresnel diffraction analysis are used to show that both the size and thendepth of a field conjugate lens focus may vary with frequency. Examplesnare given for field conjugate lens focusing with planar transducers,nfocused transducers, and ordinary refracting lenses
