Parameters expressing the non-Gaussian and the non-Rayleighnproperties of ultrasound echo signals are derived for the case of anpulsed transducer insonifying a medium containing randomly distributednscatterers. Both parameters depend on the measurement system, includingnthe transducer field and pulse frequency content, as well as on thenmedium's properties. The latter is expressed in terms of the number ofnscatterers per unit volume and the second and fourth moments of thenmedium's scattering functions. A simple relationship between thenparameters describing the non-Gaussian and non-Rayleigh properties isnderived and verified experimentally
