If you're going off-route for cheaper fuel, you should know your fuel cost per mile and per minute while flying to figure the cost of potential deviations. If our Cutlass at max cruise makes 136 knots on 10 gph, at $5.50 per gallon that's 40C per mile or 92C per minute. You should know your own costs while flying to figure the cost of potential deviations. If you're adding 20 miles to your route to reach cheaper fuel, you need to save $8. If you're buying 30 gallons of gas, those 20 miles require a savings of 27C per gallon.
