Outbursts don't happen often in a control room, so the shouts of, "SNAKE 16, STOP TURN!" caught the attention of everyone within earshot. An Air Force trainer on a test flight west of Phoenix had requested a no-gyro vector back to Luke AFB. A no-gyro vector is usually an easy procedure. The controller issues the clearance, watches the target turn, issues the command "Stop turn" just at that right moment, and wonders at the beauty of it all. Nothing can go wrong — unless you lose radio contact with the airplane.
