It's an interesting and exciting time in the digital press market. A variety of digital press vendors have been jockeying and strategizing. Why? Simply because, up to now, the lion's share of digital presses has not gone into the mainstream commercial print market. Although some large commercial printing companies with multiple divisions have adopted digital presses, most of these machines have gone into service bureau types of operations. This means the potential graphic arts market remains huge and largely untapped. Why have digital press sales been relatively modest to date? There are a number of reasons.
