Mithila region is well known for its local art i.e. Mithila Painting. It was mainly done on walls which evolved on paper and fabrics. Samastipur Division railway has taken a step forward by promoting Mithila painting in Stations (MBI & DBG) and train coaches. Considering its importance of local painting and its people connection with this painting style it was decided to further popularize the local art in all India. Train no. 12565/66, Bihar Sampark Kranti Express was decided to be painted with Mithila painting based on its importance. Mithila painted rake of 12565/66 acted as running art museum which serves all passer-by and rail passengers through stations and places it passes through. It runs right from heart of Mithila region i.e. Darbhanga to heart of India i.e. Delhi.
