At the outset, I would like to congratulate both the D.G. Shipping and the ILO for the extremely felicitous initiative they have taken in organising a Conference of this nature to discuss ILO Conventions No. 108 and No. 179. As the maritime administration of the country, the DG Shipping has always been in the forefront of moves to protect the rights of the seafarers through the implementation of both national and international Conventions.
