Aside from the economy (as much as anything is), there are still issues that, if not unique to the specialty fabrics industry, are so important to our readers that they come up repeatedly whenever we ask for comments about our editorial calendar for the year. One of these issues is how to find, train and retain skilled workers, in an "information culture" that focuses more on a college football player's electronic/mythical dead/undead girlfriend than the needs of a faltering manufacturing sector that requires people to do more with their hands than tweet.
