Mike Nissley, owner of Kira Bannerworks in Dunedin, Fla., is thinking back to the days before the digital printing revolution, "Before sublimation existed, we were doing mostly appliqued banners," he recalls. "Who knows how old that method is? You think back to the Crusades, and they're carrying applique banners. I suppose in a way, it's one of the original forms of signage."
