"It takes all the running you can do just to stay in the same place. If you want to move ahead, you must at least run twice as fast as that." So advised the Red Queen in "Alice Through the Looking Glass." I first saw this quote used in a Bobbin Magazine article published in June, 1992. It has always stuck with me, for a very simple reason—it has been just as true each year since then as it was when I originally read it. At a recent seminar I attended, a Penn State professor offered a similar sentiment, stating that if you are just now recognizing change, it has already passed you by.
