The Professional Awning Manufacturers Association (PAMA), formerly the IFAI Awnings Division, has changed both its name and its mission statement. "The name change was driven by a lack of understanding by our target market as to who we are," says PAMA board chairman Kevin Kelly, MFC, IFM, CPP, of Globe Canvas Products, Yeadon, Pa. "Also, there was the feeling that we didn't put enough professionalism into the way the division represented itself. We wanted to give credence to the state of the art in our trade. "The new name is a branding tool aimed at people outside our membership: architects, engineers, specifiers, builders, and so on. Professional Awning Manufacturers Association. That's to the point," Kelly says. "That's who we are."
