The only incident where the Hellbeaters have been used so far occurred in 2008, when the roof of a naphtha tank at the Vopak Terminal collapsed. One of the units was used to cover the tank in a foam blanket to avoid evaporation and ignition. The Hellbeaters remained on standby during the response, in case the tank collapsed or a fire broke out. A special foam pourer, owned by BP, was used to maintain the foam blanket, Ben Janssen adds that BP's machine resembles a mobile rim seal pourer, but without the need for a rim seal to be attached to the tank. The situation was soon restored to safety.
