It's a beautiful facility. Making programmes work is about people rather than the bricks and mortar. However, bricks and mortar do contribute to the way people work. The building is both a home for British tennis and an elite training centre. The Lawn Tennis Association was seen as a distant governing body that wasn't terribly friendly or useful. But the way the building is set up, people feel part of what is going on. The feedback from coaches, clubs, fans and referees who visit is very positive. As an elite centre, we can offer the right surfaces, the right gyms, and the right coaches and specialists. The best young players in the country are welcome here [for training camps]. So it's young and user-friendly for them - the building hits a lot of marks. But the accommodation is filling up pretty fast, we could do with more beds already -there are times when all 48 are full. We could do with more indoor courts - we only have six, so we're looking at covering some of our outdoor courts.
