For millionaires who want to purchase a creation of Lord Foster's but can't quite stretch to commissioning another Gherkin, there is now an alternative -take to the high seas in a Foster-designed superyacht. The "financially independent" can apply for a timeshare of these strictly upmarket luxury yachts from operator YachtPlus, with the launch party due in September. Since BD reported on the fleet of 10 yachts last year, BD Magazine has learned further details of the interiors of the 41m-long cruisers, each of which comes staffed with a full crew including a captain, chef, engineer, two hostesses and a deckhand. Each yacht has floor-to-ceiling windows, solid teak floors on the upper deck, and coconut husk fibre flooring on the lower deck to evoke "the Laid-back style of a beach hut", apparently. The four decks are connected by a glass spiral staircase, and there is an owner's suite with windows on both sides. Lighting systems in the ceiLings promise to change the ambience from beach hut by day to urban Lounge by night.
