Holidaymakers on less extravagant budgets can head for Bluestone in Wales, a ￡110 million holiday complex recreating a Pembrokeshire village. Designed by architect Powell Dobson and opening next month, the village features shops, pubs, restaurants and studio accommodation. The architect has also designed 182 lodges for visitors and a Blue Lagoon water park. Located near the town of Narbeth, Bluestone is sited within the sensitive setting of the Pembrokeshire Coastal National Park, and built by local entrepreneur William McNamara. "We had to work closely with the national park's planning officers, discussing everything down to the mullion detailing to fit in with the Pembrokeshire vernacular," says Powell Dobson associate Gareth Howell.
