摘要

The edited volume Government communication: cases and challenges is a long awaited study that tackles a strangely under-researched topic in communication studies, that of government communication. The editors of the book have selected 15 different case-study countries to examine in order to fill in this gap in the communications literature. The task set out by the study, concerning the communications of 15 very different central national governments, is to 'identify common cross-national trends' (Sanders & Canel, p. 2), but perhaps even more importantly, the authors seek to conceptualise the field of government communication and position the study of government communication in relation to other fields.
