Peter Krapp's stated project is to 'profile a digital culture that goes against the grain of efficiency and ergonomics and embraces the reserves that reside in noise, error and glitch' (2011, p. ix). In alerting the reader to this theme, Krapp situates his book in the broad field of digital humanities, and more specifically in the emerging sub-discipline 'media archaeology', drawing on Foucauldian analytical tools to examine media and communication.
