摘要

Central for many internet research projects is the capability of communication technologies to foster wider and more frequent social networking in ways which may reconfigure social relationships from the predominance of local face-to-face interaction to increasing non-local ties. Social networking articles are currently amongst the most fashionable areas of academic interest. Whilst many of these focus upon the importance of loose-ties, far less research has been conducted on what kinds of communication people use to maintain close friendships.
