摘要

The entanglement of technology and society is not a new phenomenon, but some recent academic literature may indicate otherwise. Ongoing fascination with artificial intelligence developments and the promises of a new form of society enabled by technology appear to portray technology as a key actor with its own agency and power. That is, technology has somehow shaped our society in ways that we are unable to properly trace or control. Although it is indeed important, a more thoughtful narrative might consider who has made it a strong force in current democracies. The problem with writing about technology as 'new' suggests that society needs to be able to adapt to its newness as a form of progress and societal advancement rather than ask why it has become an ordinary part of public lives. These implicit narratives are evident in Greve's most recent book, as he attempts to analyze and offer solutions for the imminent changes in the labor market.
