Under the priority area of Libraries for the Next Generation, the foundation's Community Development and Social Change Program helps libraries meet the educational and cultural needs of growing, diverse populations. Specifically, the foundation supports libraries to build their capacity to serve growing and diverse communities through the following types of projects: new outreach programs to underserved populations; professional development programs that enhance the ability of staff to serve diverse populations; new programs that respond to emerging community needs, such as culturally specific programs, early literacy, or new uses of technology; and capital projects that expand program capacity and impact.
