nodes. Hence, using the RG approach, bioisosteric sub-structures can be encompassed within a single node type. Such a molecular representation would thus emphasise the bio-equivalence between chemical structures, without relying on structural similarity. In summary, this project aims to improve the ability of similarity search approaches to retrieve molecules whose structure differs significantly from the query structure. By making use of knowledge about which sub-structural fragments are bioisosteric and encoding these within a RG node type, the reliance on structural similarity is diminished. Novel approaches to encoding and associating the similarity between RGs generated in such a manner will be explored during the course of this project.
