Have you seen that television commercial for Lincoln cars with Matthew McConaughey? He's looking totally movie-star slick and is sitting all alone in a restaurant drinking coffee (one assumes) from a plain cup in a dark, dreary neighborhood. The monologue going on in his head plays out in the audio portion of the commercial, supplying the promotional content about Lincolns. But every time I see the commercial, I keep asking myself why he would be sitting in this place in the dead of night. And before the commercial reveals he's waiting for the rain to stop, I can't help thinking that his car must have broken down, and he's waiting for AAA. And then I ask myself another question: Is this what the people who make and sell Lincoln cars would want a potential customer to be thinking?
