When library software providers Sirsi and Dynix merged about 10 years ago to form SirsiDynix, the new company retained the customer bases and ILSs of its originators: Symphony (from Sirsi) and Horizon (from Dynix). SirsiDynix recently introduced the BLUEcloud Suite, a cloud based solution that complements the two legacy systems and eases the transition to an updated ILS. "It's a web services, API layer," says Eric Keith, VP of global marketing, communications, and strategic alliances. "We're building this BLUEcloud Suite so it talks to both Horizon and Symphony seamlessly and easily but allows us to just maintain one set of products that then [by] using web services and API speaks to both Horizon and Symphony."
