摘要

The robust debate over privacy on the internet has continued for some time. The major issues concern tracking visited websites and gathering data from ubiquitous cookies, as well as collecting and using personally identifying information. While most websites have some sort of privacy policy, the quality, completeness, and ease of understanding can vary considerably. Various stakeholders, including the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Obama administration, Congress, business and marketing interests, internet watchdogs, and user groups, are actively and publicly debating these privacy challenges.
