Research libraries and the organizations they support are changing for a whole host of reasons," says Paul Harwood, the new general manager of U.K., Nordic, and South African territories for EBSCO Information Services. The companies that once had large, physical research libraries now handle information management electronically by a combination of librarians and IT and legal staff, he says. Harwood came to EBSCO with extensive experience in the library, publisher, and intermediary communities. He served as chair of UKSG from 2006 to 2008 and is currently a member of the UK Open Access Implementation Group. Most recently, he was deputy CEO of JISC Collections, playing a lead role in its open access (OA) journals.
