Kennedy Jr., speaking to librarians attending ALA's biennial Public Library Association (PLA) Conference in Philadelphia earlier this year, spoke about environmental protection "not for the fish, but for us." He suggested that the U.S. government invest in new energy sources, just as Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower and Franklin D. Roosevelt did.
