Open source software continues to capture the interest of information technology professionals. In 2009,I interviewed Marc Krel-lenstein, one of the founders of Lucid Imagination. He oversaw search and retrieval for Northern Light and then tackled findability for Elsevier. In spring 2009, he was involved in the open source search startup called Lucid Imagination. One of his comments in 2009 struck me as full of assertions that I was not prepared to accept when he told me the following: I started Lucid in August 2007 together with three key Lucene/Solr core developers- Erik Hatcher, Grant Ingersoll and Yonik Seeley-and with the advice and support of Doug Cutting, the creator of Lucene, because I thought Lucene/Solr was the best search technology I'd seen.
